House of Night Series by P.C. Cast + Kristen Cast

First of all, let me just say that they both are amazing writers! P.C. Cast is a magnificient romance, fantasy, and young- adult fiction writer! Second of all, this series is fantastic! Every time I finished a book in the series, I was always wanting more. I just couldn't wait until I read the next book and now that I'm all caught up to date in the series, I now have to wait until October 25th when the ninth book comes out. It is called Destined and I am so excited about it! Four days before my birthday it comes out! What a perfect bithday gift!

For all of you who have not read the House of Night Series, let me give you a little taste of what it's about. Well, to begin with, I must say that this is the perfect series if you are into vampires, magic, fantasy and things of that nature.
Ok, so the series is about a young high school girl named Zoey who thinks that her biggest problem is Geometry. Well, then she gets Marked and from there she has to go to a different school called, ' The House of Night' leaving all her friends behind. Everything in her life changes and she is faced with many, many challenges throughout the whole series. (emphasis on the 'many' part) From making new friends, enemies, boyfriends, losing loved ones, oh, and being Priestess with wicked, cool powers. Along the way she learns a lot and becomes a stronger and more powerful Priestess.
I know that's not really much of a taste but if I give any more details about the series, I just might get carried away and give you the whole story and spoil it. Trust me, it's a really good series and I'll even tell you why I love it soo much.

P.C. Cast gives precise, very well, described detail to where the reader feels like part of the story. They can actually imagine what the setting looks like, what the characters look like, how they act, and what's going on. You know those books that you read and you just can't put it down because it's so good. Yep, this is one of them.  The story literally grabs your hand, pulls you in, and walks you through the story so that you're wanting more. It's that good. Hmmmm.....must I go on. I think that's enough reason to grab this book and get lost in the world of the 'House of Night.'

                               Keep Reading Book Worms! :)

Calling All Readers!! :)

This is my third blog and, as you can see, it's all about books! And I think it's only proper that I first tell you that I do not like Twilight! So if you like Twilight a lot, well, maybe this blog isn't for you because I will not be talking about Twilight. There, I said it. I'm not a fan of Stephenie Meyer so let's move on......

What I would like to also say is that I am very much into the vampires, werewolves, witches, fantasy type books; they really just excite me and draw me in.
Other genres I like to read are Romance.... and, well,..... almost anything that pulls me in once I start reading. Reading is one of my hobbies. Yes, I'm a nerd. But so what? Who says I can't enjoy a good book and escape from real life for a while. I think people started creating and writing stories so they could escape and share their imagination and feelings with other people. So that they could have someone love their books and have something in common.
Strongly, I believe that books feed the mind and soul of a person. They can teach them a lot about love, life, and happiness. Books have this power that can change everything. It's like they have a kind of healing power as where they can bring people together and keep someone who's alone company. They're like a friend.
Without books and writers, there would be no imagination, no history, no sharing and bringing people together. Not even all the technology we have now because without writers there would be no scripts to make a movie or a show. There would be no libraries and probably no teachers because what would they teach? I mean, they could only teach what they think they know and that would all probably be just rumor passed down by word from person to person. And that's not very accurate. Details change when passed down by word. Hello, have you ever played the game Telephone. You know, where a bunch of people stand in a line and one starts by telling the person behind them something and it gets passed on down the line, only to be totally different when it gets to the last person? Ya, just like that.
To me, books are inspiring. They help me become a better writer and help me grow. Each time I read, I learn something new; whether it's about the author or what, I always learn something. Speaking of authors, they each have their signature style of writing and communicating through the stories they tell. It may not seem obvious at first, but if you really pay attention, it's there. No author is the same. Just like no signature is the same.
To end my first blog post, I would like to say that I encourage you to read. 'Oh, but I don't have time to read', you say? Sure you do! Even if it's during your lunch break or when the kids are asleep. Or whether it's just ten minutes a day. Just pick up a book and start reading. You never know, you might just learn something new!
